The 90,525 square-foot facility will accommodate around 395 students, featuring a Pre-K program and various educational resources. With a planned completion by summer 2027, the school reflects a strong community partnership focused on delivering quality education.
CTA Construction Managers has officially commenced construction on the new Green Meadow Elementary School in Maynard, Massachusetts. The groundbreaking ceremony took place recently, marking the beginning of an anticipated educational facility designed to accommodate the needs of young learners.
Designed by Mount Vernon Group Architects, the new school will span an impressive 90,525 square feet and feature two stories. It is planned to serve approximately 395 students in grades Kindergarten through third grade, with a dedicated Pre-K program expected to cater to about 100 children.
In total, the school will employ around 110 faculty and staff members, creating a vibrant educational environment conducive to learning. The architectural design includes a central core that will feature shared public spaces such as a gymnasium, cafetorium, administrative offices, a health suite, and a media center, fostering a community atmosphere.
The layout includes two distinct “neighborhoods” of classrooms, specifically designed for Pre-K through grade 3. Each wing will consist of general education classrooms, special education classrooms, support spaces, common areas, and restrooms, helping to create a comprehensive learning atmosphere.
The school is strategically located on a 33-acre site, situated near residential areas, wooded land, and a town park, providing ample outdoor space for recreational activities and community engagement.
Construction is taking place close to the existing school, which is located just 30 feet away from the new building site. Upon completion of the new facility, the existing school structure will undergo abatement and subsequent demolition to make way for further site development.
Currently, the foundation for the new school has already been laid, indicating that construction is progressing as scheduled. The projected completion date for the Green Meadow Elementary School is summer 2027, ensuring that the new facility will be ready to welcome students in a few short years.
Colliers Project Leaders has been appointed as the owner’s project management (OPM) firm, providing oversight and ensuring that the project stays on track and within budget. The collaboration between CTA Construction Managers, Mount Vernon Group, and Colliers Project Leaders illustrates a strong partnership, which has developed over more than 12 years of working together on various projects.
This latest endeavor in Maynard marks CTA Construction’s return to the area, having previously built the award-winning Maynard High School. The company, based in Waltham, Massachusetts, specializes in educational, municipal, and residential projects and boasts a project portfolio exceeding $2.0 billion.
